Position: General Assistant
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated General Assistant to ensure comprehensive customer service, efficient stock handling, accurate shelf pricing, and impeccable housekeeping in our store.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
- Acknowledge and assist customers promptly.
- Provide accurate product information and advice.
- Address customer queries and complaints efficiently.
- Promote additional sales (e.g., paint accessories).
- Ensure customer purchases are loaded carefully and without delay.
- Inform customers about additional services like delivery, glass cutting, and special orders.
- Maintain certification in product knowledge and be available in the designated aisle.
Housekeeping:
- Keep the area free of obstacles and ensure immediate merchandising of received stock.
- Maintain correct shelf price labeling.
- Complete required checklists for canteen and toilet/shower schedules.
Safety and Compliance:
- Comply with OHSA regulations, including the use of safety gear.
- Ensure safe merchandising of stock for customers and colleagues.
- Report any discrepancies to the Store Manager.
Readiness and Security:
- Adhere to the “Ready for Business” guidelines.
- Monitor and report any display gaps or suspicious activities.
- Ensure no product is loaded without proof of purchase.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 or a minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in English and the dominant local language.
- Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Capability to work under pressure.
