Nedbank invites unemployed South African youth to apply for the YES (Youth Employment Service) Programme, a 12-month quality work experience opportunity aimed at developing new skills and improving future employment prospects. Nedbank has said YES to creating youth employment opportunities, building communities and transforming South Africa through the Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme. This business-led initiative, in collaboration with government, aims to reduce unemployment by giving young people the opportunity to develop new skills and gain meaningful workplace experience. Participation in the programme significantly improves the chances of securing long-term employment in the future.

Who Can Apply?

Applications are open to South African youth who meet the following requirements:

  • Must be between 18 and 29 years old as of 1 May 2026 (born between 2 May 1997 and 1 May 2008)
  • Must have at least a Matric (Grade 12) qualification, or have completed a post-matric qualification at:
    • NQF Level 5 (Higher Certificate)
    • NQF Level 6 (Diploma)
    • NQF Level 7 (Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree)
  • Must currently be unemployed
  • Must be South African-born African, Coloured or Indian citizens in line with the BBBEE Act definition of “black people”
  • Must not have participated in a YES Programme with another organisation before
Programme Duration and Start Date

Successful candidates will be contracted for 12 months to gain quality work experience. The Nedbank YES Programme is not a learnership, internship or apprenticeship. The programme is scheduled to begin on 01 May 2026.

Stipend

Participants will receive a monthly stipend guided by the YES Programme. This stipend is intended as monetary support to assist with living, food and travel-related expenses.

Work Experience Locations

Work experience will take place at Nedbank’s various sites, branches and offices across South Africa. Some roles may offer the possibility of working in a hybrid or remote model. Depending on the division and job requirements, participants may need to work weekdays and/or shifts, which could include weekends and public holidays. YES youth must therefore be able to travel to and from the workplace.
