YES Programme (Youth Employment Services):
Initiative: The YES Programme is a collaboration between businesses and the government to address unemployment. It aims to provide youth with skills and meaningful workplace experience to enhance their chances of finding long-term employment.
Nedbank’s Involvement: Nedbank has been a proud supporter of the YES initiative since 2019. It has been a major contributor among South African banks, supporting over 5,000 youth by equipping them with skills for job market entry or entrepreneurship.
Eligibility: South African youth aged 18 to 29, with a matric qualification, who are currently unemployed, and meet the definition of ‘black people’ as per the BBBEE Act, can apply for the YES Programme. Applicants should not have participated in a YES Programme with another organization before.
Employment Duration: Participants in the YES Programme will be employed by Nedbank for 12 months to gain quality work experience. The program is not a learnership, internship, or apprenticeship.
Stipend: Participants will receive a monthly stipend to support their living, food, and travel-related expenses.
Work Experience Locations: The work experience will take place across Nedbank’s various sites, branches, and offices nationwide. Some positions might offer hybrid or remote work options.
Work Schedule: Depending on the division and role, participants might work weekdays or according to shift schedules, which may include weekends and public holidays. Participants must be able to travel to and from the Nedbank workplace.
